Belmonte is one of many old towns in Calabria facing a populations crisis, and the future of

its existing communities are uncertain. This project aims to build common ground between

the local citizens, settling refugees and the youth through a sharing of skills and industry,

and to build a possible future community. A Green-Roof Farming Infrastructure for

cultivation, bring means for a new livelihood, and encourages to diversify grown produce and

a self-sufficient lifestyle.

The site is located beside Belmonte’s Marina, in-between Road and Rail that stretches along

the south coast of the Tyrrhenian sea. The scheme build’s the vision for a neighbourhood

network between districts facing similar crisis. Belmonte’s long history and tradition of

procession will continue along the Marina and the Green-Roof Infrastructure is designed to

facilitate a Market and civic centre.
