Project ‘Braiding’ is focused around ‘hobbyist’ processes and why we do them. After I have braided, the braids are used as ropes to tie myself to everyday objects. Being connected to objects helps me understand my relationship to them and also explores the braids functionality of grip and anchorage. The exploration of functionality plays into the concept of ‘animism’ this being an object having a spirituality or life force. This project has been explored through performance to camera as a means to enable both documentation and action to occur.
