My practice explores nature and the elements. I am currently interested in exploring spaces and boundaries found within the landscape. In particular, I am exploring the boundary between the land and the sea. Working to highlight the differences between them and how one alters the other.
My work takes a form of automatic response to the elements. I have created pieces that are a ‘collaboration’ with the environment. For example, leaving the canvas in the sea. This results in drawings being manipulated beyond my control.
These paintings are titled ‘Jorge’ after the storm that swept through the UK in February. I let the wind and the rain ‘paint’ these, as ink was blown by the wind or washed by the rain.
